Tadalafil belongs to the group of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE 5) inhibitors, primarily used to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Erectile dysfunction is the inability to keep a hard and erect penis suitable for sexual activity. Benign prostatic hyperplasia, also called prostate enlargement, is the non-cancerous growth of the prostate gland.
Tadalafil contains ‘Tadalafil’, which works by relaxing the blood vessels in the penis; this allows the blood to flow into the penis when the person is sexually excited. Thereby, it helps to treat erectile dysfunction. Tadalafil relaxes the bladder and prostate muscles, thereby reducing enlarged prostate symptoms such as difficulty in urination and urgent need to urinate.
You are advised to take Tadalafil for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects, such as headache, back pain, muscle pain, pain in the legs and arms, nasal congestion, indigestion, and facial flushing. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.
Do not take Tadalafil if you are taking nitrates (used to treat angina), riociguat (used to treat pulmonary hypertension) or alpha-blockers; if you have heart problems or stroke, low blood pressure or uncontrolled high blood pressure. Tadalafil is not intended for use in women. Tadalafil may cause dizziness, so drive with caution. Avoid consuming alcohol as it might cause increased dizziness. Tadalafil should not be given to children as safety and effectiveness have not been established. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and the medicines you are taking to avoid unpleasant side effects.

Driving and using machines: Tadalafil is used to help the person to achieve and maintain a firm and lasting erection. However, due to Tadalafil's effect it is advised to use another medicine that helps the person to achieve and maintain a firm and lasting erection, including nitrates, alpha-blockers, and anti-hypertensively medicines.
Whether you can take Tadalafil at the same time as your other medications will depend on which medications you are taking.
You are required to complete a short medical consultation questionnaire that asks for any medications that you are prescribed from your GP and will indicate the medications that can’t be taken alongside Tadalafil.
There are several medicines which should not be taken concurrently with Tadalafil. Medicines which can have potentially serious interactions with Tadalafil include :-
• Any alpha-blocker medicines e.g. doxazosin (Cardura), alfuzosin (Xatral), tamsulosin, terazosin, or Flomax, that you can buy in the pharmacy. (These medicines may be used to treat prostate problems or high blood pressure).
• Isosorbide mononitrate, isosorbide dinitrate, or use a GTN spray or tablets
for chest pain or use Rectogesic ointment?
• Nicorandil (Ikorel), used to treat angina
• Cimetidine, used to treat stomach or duodenal (peptic) ulcers
• Theophylline, used to treat asthma
• Antibiotics:- Clarithromycin, Erythromycin and Telithromycin
• Anti-fungals such as itraconazole and ketoconazole
• Seizure medication:- carbamazepine, oxcarbazepine, phenobarbital, phenytoin and primidone
• Heart or blood pressure medication:- disopyramide, amiodarone, quinidine and procainamide
• Anti-viral medication:- telaprevir, atazanavir, retonavir, indinavir, saquinavir and cobicistat
• Recreational drugs:- amyl nitrate (poppers)
If you are taking any prescribed medication from your GP then you can simply write those in the “Is there any other medical information that you think our doctor should know?” section on the medical questionnaire. Then, our doctor will know whether the Tadalafil is safe for you to take.
Read available consultation questionnaireYou should name any medicine that you take (including unbranded and expired Tadalafil) so that our doctor can judge if it is suitable for you. This is important as Tadalafil can’t be taken alongside other medicines that may interact with it. You should inform our doctor about all other medicines that you are taking so that they can assess for any treatments that may be needed. Medications that should be taken in the same way as Tadalafil include :-
You are required to complete a short medical consultation questionnaire that does not ask for medicine that is only available by your GP or by any other means. The questionnaire does not ask for medicine that’s not on your GP’s agenda. If you have been prescribed a Tadalafil, then you can simply write those in the “Is this medicine available?” section on the medical questionnaire.
There are several ways that can be asked for Tadalafil so that the doctor can judge if it’s suitable for you. Some of these are:
• Is it a generic medicine like Accord or Dr Fox?
• Is it a subcutaneous (under the skin) dose, ienced injection or vaginal omentation cream?
• Is it aile gel or a gel that you apply to the penis?
• Is it a capsule or pipe that delivers a dose of Tadalafil?
• Is it a flexible dose of Tadalafil that contains a controlled substance?

If you have been prescribed Tadalafil then we recommend that you have a thorough medical questionnaire so that the doctor can judged on its potentials can be asked if you are taking this medication.
Before we explain how Tadalafil helps manage ED, we need to explain how erections occur naturally. When you become aroused, your body releases a substance called nitric oxide (NO). In turn, levels of a chemical known as cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) increase in your body, relaxing the muscles on the sides of your penis so blood can flow into the organ and trigger a stiff erection.
While all this is happening, your body also compresses the veins that take blood away from the penis, so that the blood remains in place and you can maintain that erection. Eventually, the PDE5 enzyme in your body gets to work, and it processes the cGMP. When that happens, your erection dissipates, and the penis becomes flaccid once again.
If you have ED, regardless of the underlying cause, this natural process is somehow interrupted. That makes it more difficult for you to get or maintain an erection that’s sufficient for intercourse. And that’s where Tadalafil, a PDE5 inhibitor, can help. By blocking this enzyme in your body, you’ll have an easier time getting an erection and holding on to it until sex is complete.
As a PDE5 inhibitor, tadalafil works by relaxing the blood vessels in the penis, which become engorged with blood. This allows blood to flow into the penis, which is necessary for an erection.
When that time is near, you’re able to achieve an erection again. However, you’ll still have to do some stiff erections to get that effect. And that’s just for once.
If you have another condition that affects your ability to get an erection, such as a diabetes-related condition or reduced testosterone levels, you may be advised to seek medical help. That’s because tadalafil can help manage that.
That’s where CIALIS comes in.
It’s a special* medication that helps manage ED by boosting levels of the chemical called PGE2. CIALIS works by relaxing the blood vessels in the penis, which allows blood to flow into it and create an erection.
